Sound Inbetween Solid and Void
The project proposes a music school located at downtown Rochester, which includes an auditorium, classrooms, offices, gyms and student housing. As the site is divided by a major road and faces the Genesee River, the design aims to bridge the gap between the city and the school by creating both physical and visual voids which engage the public into the architecture, bringing a musical experience to the city.
initial research: DENSITY CUBE
The first project DENSITY analyzed the spatial layout of St. Catherine’s Monastry in Egypt. The project explores the idea between the perimeter and the contained object. By adding a definitive border to a group of designed randomness, orders replace chaos, voids thrive in between solids.
